Before the Claim: A Proactive Risk Review
Part 2: Skilled Nursing Facilities
July 15, 2026 | 1 PM CST
Falls and pressure injuries account for 63% of closed SNF claims. Resident abuse claim severity is up 45.7% in recent years, from $257,524 to $375,338.
This session looks at where those claims actually originate. Not in bad policy. In the gap between what a policy says and what the medical record can prove happened.
The approach is a premortem. Assume a lawsuit has already been filed eighteen months from now. Work backward from that outcome to find what a facility’s documentation, training, and oversight would need to show today.
Topics include fall management, elopement, pressure injuries, medication errors, and the HR files that get subpoenaed first in abuse cases.
Presented by Rebecca Adelman, Esq.
If this is something your facility is navigating, we welcome the conversation.
