Since 1992, Facing History’s Memphis chapter has provided professional development and resources to more than 5,800 area teachers throughout the southeastern U.S. Learn more.

Through its business model, RE+NEW+ALL Candle provides meaningful work in a safe and nurturing environment for women survivors of human trafficking in the United States. Social enterprise, RE + NEW + ALL employs a therapeutic work model to empower survivors by giving them an opportunity to earn an income, build their resume, obtain job skills, ignite their creativity, and grow professionally in a safe and nurturing working environment. All RE+NEW+ALL candles are hand-poured in Memphis by survivors of human trafficking. Each candle is personally signed by the woman who is being restored by your purchase. Grounded's Me and the Light Community Education and Empowerment Initiative

Grounded is an organization created by Memphis artists to harness the power of art to inspire healing. Grounded is currently working in Memphis neighborhoods, within youth detention facilities, alongside schools. Our work builds teams of student and community collaborators to creatively address youth violence in Memphis. My Cup of Tea

My Cup of Tea is a non-profit, social enterprise located in the heart of Orange Mound, considered the oldest African American community in America. We import the highest quality tea from tea estates and gardens in the Far East to The House at Orange Mound, where it is weighed, re-formatted, and packaged for sale by women who impact the historic neighborhood.

The film reveals how art can help transform ourselves and our communities struggling with violence.

We’re working with Facing History and Ourselves, the goal is expose powerful learning experiences for students about resilience and conscious choices.

As part of the initiative, students will see the film in a theatrical setting, visit historic sites, and produce content revealing their ideas and and solutions for peace in our communities. Learn more.

Pets for the Elderly

The Pets for the Elderly Foundation helps pay the fees to participating animal shelters throughout the United States for senior citizens (age 60 and over) who adopt a companion dog or cat from a participating shelter – including pre-adoption veterinary exams and spay/neuter, if part of the adoption fee.In 2020, PFE announced that its program would also include funding for shelter programs that cover veterinary services, retention services, food shortage support, and other services for animal adopters aged 60 and over. That PFE funding is implemented through a certified PFE partner shelter and includes routine veterinary care, surgery, food, home visits and grooming. Learn more.
